I believe without a doubt that the Word of God declares homosexuality a sin and that God himself has described it as an abomination and a stench in His nostrils. No matter how you slice it, dice it or spin it the fact is it is sin. As I stated again and again last week, it was sin in the Old Testament days and it is still sin today. However, we must also remember that sin is sin and God hates all sin. That includes every act or even thought that is contrary to His character and commandments. But the good news is that in spite of the sin God still loves the sinner. And that includes those that are living a life of homosexuality. But by the grace of God that could be any one of us.
With all that said let’s turn our focus back on the fact that the level of acceptance of homosexuality as a natural alternative lifestyle has certainly increased and is still on the rise. With regards to that, there are a couple of observations I have made over the last few years that I would like to share in the following paragraphs.
First of all, it is obvious that the LBGT community has an agenda to continue to push their perverted dogma on everyone else and it is to the point that if anyone opposes their viewpoint they themselves are the perverted wretch. The question is, why are they pushing so hard instead of just living their life of perversion and not bother with the rest of us? I believe they have convinced themselves that if they can get others to agree with them that it is a natural and acceptable lifestyle then somehow they will be more justified in thinking and living so. Remember what Paul said in his letter to the Romans. Not only were they practicing homosexuality that were giving hearty approval to others that were doing the same.
The other observation centers around folks I know or have known that don’t necessarily believe that homosexuality is a natural occurrence but yet can’t seem to recognize it or call it sin. This is usually because someone they know or love are caught up in that way of life and they don’t know how to deal with the situation. They are torn between their love for the person and their beliefs and it must be a terribly difficult position to be in. We have recently heard a new phrase coined that seems to take all of this into consideration. The term “gay Christian” is beginning to be used quite often in religious circles as if it is a fact. But if anything ever fit the term oxymoron then that one does. Based on God’s Word, having a continuing homosexual lifestyle and being a Christian in the true sense is a total impossibility. The scriptures are very plain concerning salvation in that we are a new creation at the point of conversion. We are no longer in bondage to sin and our desire is to be more like Jesus every passing day. So again, we need to call it what it is. Sin. Nothing less.
In response to these observations I would like to remind each of us that God expect’s us to live a life of purity and has made provision for us to stay clean. He said if we will confess our sins that He will be faithful to forgive us. This is the real lifestyle of a Christian. On the other hand, even though we may not practice homosexuality, if we approve, condone or refuse to take a stand against it we become accomplices to the sin just as if we committed it ourselves. I know that it is very difficult to hate the sin but not condemn the person who continues in that lifestyle. But this is exactly what God expects us to do. Hate the sin, any sin, but not condemn the sinner. We should understand and realize that God loves them just like He loves us and we would should make every effort to be like Him. The Bible says that before we are saved we are already condemned and so there is no reason for us to engage in that activity.
As we end our discussion on this subject I want to take us back to our post a few weeks ago. We made the assertion that evil is our real enemy. We do not war with flesh but with unseen things. We must dress ourselves with the armor God has provided and stand, not cower, in the presence of evil.
