A Blessings Lesson

I’m writing tonight’s post from a villa at Orange Lakes Resort in Orlando, Florida. We left about 4:30 PM yesterday afternoon and after an overnight stay in Dothan came on to Orlando today. The traffic has been terribly congested and I guess it’s because there are so many kids on Spring Break this coming week. But we made the trip safely and we are so thankful for that. We don’t know what to expect when we get to Magic Kingdom tomorrow morning but my guess is that it will be just as congested in the park as it has been on the road.

I don’t have a subject to discuss in detail this evening but there are a couple of things I do want to mention. One of the things that I have noticed about our travels thus far is how hard some people work to make things better for others yet what they do goes unnoticed. This morning as I watched an older lady try to keep up with everyone who was eating breakfast at our hotel, I saw someone doing their best to make others happy but yet no one seemed to pay any attention at all to her efforts. So I couldn’t help myself. I had to find a way to let her know that someone did notice the things she did for the benefit of others. I finally was able to catch her in the kitchen area with no one else around and told her thank you and gave her small token of appreciation. The look on her face was one of disbelief. It was obvious that this had never happened to her before and she was taken aback. It was further proof of what I had observed.

As I reflected on this later in the day, I thought to myself “How many times have I passed up an opportunity to bless someone else just because I was preoccupied with my own affairs and didn’t have the eyes to see how someone else was blessing me?” I have come to realize that the reason God blesses me is so that I can bless someone else. Not because of any thing I have done but because He wants me to be the channel of blessing for another. I hope from this point on I will be more aware of what God is doing around me and will look for those opportunities to pass the blessings on.

I hope you have a great week and that God will bless you in a mighty way. If He does, He must have others that he wants to bless through you.
