Although it has been rainy for most of the day, I have sure been blessed in so many ways. We had a great time together in our Saturday morning bible study as we continued in the book of John, chapter 2. The input from the group this morning was tremendous and I left with a new understanding of some of the verses thanks to those that were willing to share their hearts. What an encouragement it is to me to be able to share with these men on a weekly basis.

We had a late evening quartet practice tonight that lasted for a couple of hours. The others in the group didn’t leave until about 10:00. I also love being with these guys and sharing our common love for gospel music and the great hymns of the faith. Please pray for us tonight and tomorrow as we will be sharing our music with a local church in their evening service tomorrow night.  We sincerely hope that the Lord will use us to minister to those that need encouraging or comforting. But more than that we hope that he uses us to share the gospel and see others come to know Him like we do.

This afternoon my wife and I had dinner at a local restaurant in Florence and decided to stop by the grocery store on our way home. She needed to pick up a few things for preparation for lunch tomorrow. As she was shopping and I was doing my usual “just standing around” thing I happened to see someone  I thought knew but wasn’t sure because he was some distance away. However, as we approached each other I realized it was who I thought. I haven’t seen him in a couple of years but he was one of my favorite people that I had worked with in the past. He was someone I admired because of his integrity and his witness and we had spent time discussing God’s word on several occasions. And today was no exception. As we talked about some of those times I was reminded of the tragedy his family suffered a number of years ago. His 25 year old daughter had died from an apparent drug overdose under questionable circumstances in 2000 and it devastated him and his wife. He spent many hours after that speaking to different groups about the tragedy and how God brought them through it. I remember very well when it happened and how my heart ached for him at that time. But today, in his true fashion, he made this simple statement; “One of these days there is going to be a grand homecoming!”. What an exciting thought. He is so right. There is going to be a time that we will see loved ones gone on before us again face to face. I find myself thinking more and more about “going home” and being reunited with those I love. It really will be a grand homecoming. But the grandest thing of all is that we will see Jesus face to face. What a day that will be! Thank you my friend for reminding me of what we have to look forward to.

I hope you can say that you are looking forward to that day. It’s really not that far away because life is but a vapor and we are allotted only so many heartbeats. I know that I am closer today than I was yesterday. How about you?

May God richly bless you this coming week.
