Peace, The Gift of God’s Love

Just like last Saturday, we were blessed with another beautiful day! The beauty of God’s wonderful creation is really beginning to show its colors as Spring arrives. I love this time of year. New life is springing up everywhere just like what happened to us when we said yes to His offer of salvation. We became a new creation according to His word and He has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in heavenly places in Christ. In addition to that we have been sealed in Him with the Holy Spirit of promise. And all of this because He loves us.

I realize that the title above is somewhat unexpected but during our bible study this morning the Lord reminded me of the wonderful peace He gives.  Because we have put our faith and trust in Him we now have peace with God. But more than that we have the peace of God. A peace, according to the bible, that surpasses all comprehension. In other words, there is no way to explain it, describe it or understand it. However, I believe this peace flows from the riches of His grace. The bible tells us that His grace is sufficient in all things. That includes times of discouragement, times of sorrow, times of anxiety or any other thing that life brings our way. The sufficiency of His grace is what leaves us with that peace that allows us to make it through difficult circumstances. It is not something we can create it is simply a gift from God. What a wonderful gift!

As all of you know next Sunday is Easter. As we go through this week we should be reminded of what Jesus has done for us. First of all, He was willing to lay aside His glory in Heaven and voluntarily come to this earth for one purpose; to die. He became human so He could be tempted in all manner as we are but yet never sin. Because of His sinless life He qualified as the perfect sacrifice God the Father required to pay man’s sin debt and reconcile man to Himself. Jesus was willing to bear the physical suffering on the cross and the emotional suffering of having His father turn His back on Him as He became sin for us. But when He uttered those words “It is finished!” God the Father was satisfied that the price had been paid for us. But thanks be to God it didn’t end there either. Jesus was buried but on the third day He arose from the grave just like He said He would. Not only had He paid the debt for our sin, He had conquered our most feared enemy, Death. Oh death where is thy sting, oh grave where is thy victory? He then ascended back to the Father after revealing Himself to many others as proof that He was alive. He now sits at the right hand of God the Father always interceding for those of us that belong to Him. He’s waiting for the day when God says “Go bring your bride home. It is time for a great marriage supper.” What a day that will be when my Jesus I shall see!

And that is the gospel folks!!!
