Saturday Evening Post – August 20, 2016

Well hello everyone. Sorry for the lateness of the hour. It has been a long day with my weekly chores of mowing grass, weed eating and pool cleaning this morning and then the last poolside birthday party of the season for one of the grandkids. As a matter of fact we were visited with about 20 ten-year-olds, mostly boys, and we witnessed one of the most notable Nerf gun battles of all time. We are not sure who won but it was obvious all the participants greatly enjoyed the exercise and will all be able to recount the event. And I’m sure we will hear varying versions depending on which side they were on.

I just want to mention one more thing that I am thankful for before moving on to another topic. I am so very blessed to have the job I have. A few years ago I really thought the time had come for me to retire and make way for the younger generation to take over. And retire I did. However, after I had enjoyed a couple of years of what most people think of as the ultimate dream, I found myself wanting to again be a  respected contributor to society and have an impact on those around me. My dilemma was that I thought I was too old to be employable again. Then God opened up a door for me and has allowed me to be a part of something that I truly enjoy and that is very rewarding. I have been able to use my education and experience to help pull together some successful projects for my employer. The last five years have been the best years of my working career and I plan to go a little while longer before giving it up again. So, thank you Lord for your blessings on me.

I know there are other things that I could mention and they are all important. But I have included the most apparent and important ones for me. I would sure love to hear from each of you about the things you are thankful for. I have found that listing them and speaking them makes me realize how really blessed I am but how I take them for granted so much of the time.

I want to thank you for responding to my prayer request from last week. Our visit at Westside was a great experience as we were able worship the Lord with the folks there through our music. God blessed in a great way and it was an honor to lift up His name and to hopefully encourage all who were present. We look forward to more opportunities to share if the Lord so sees fit.

I have another special prayer request for this week. Many of you know Joe Pampinto and have heard of his recent health situation. From what I hear, Joe is still in very bad shape after his heart attacks and surgery and is likely to be down for quite some time. Please pray that God will continue to intervene in Joe’s life and bring him back to good health. The coming days are critical for him so I urge you to lift him up every opportunity you have. But as always, may God’s will be done and He be glorified in all things.

Until next week may God richly bless each of you.

David
