Good evening all. Hope all of you had a wonderful week. It’s hard to believe that school has already started for the kids and everyone is gearing up for the football season. The blooms on our pecan tree have just all of a sudden turned to green pecans and the tree is loaded. But the summer flowers and vegetable plants are beginning to fade away. I’m sure going to miss those fresh tomatoes!
More blessings are mine. As I’ve gone through this past week, other things have come to my mind that I am thankful for. One of the majors for me is my health. Although I did suffer significant damage to my heart muscles when I had my heart attack five years ago, the Lord saw fit to allow me more time with my family and more time to serve Him. He has continued to sustain me and has brought me to a place of a closer relationship with Him. Thank you Lord for your blessings on me!
Good Christian friends are another reason for giving thanks to the Lord. It is such a blessing to be able to fellowship with other believers of like mind and to know there are folks you can call on in time of need. With the changes going on in our world today, for the worst I might add, the right kind of friends has become more and more of a necessity to maintain a healthy outlook on life. I believe it is one of God’s ways of reminding me that He is still in control and I am not alone in the battle. Thank you Lord for your blessings on me!
I have a few more that I will share with you next week. Maybe these have brought to mind more things you are thankful for but take for granted like I do. This has caused me to pause and reflect on my wealth of blessings. I hope it has done the same for you.
I have a special prayer request of each of you as you pray tonight and tomorrow. As many of you know, for a few years I was part of a southern gospel quartet that was birthed out of the Sunday School class of which I was a member. We ministered to senior adults in nursing homes and assisted living facilities from 2008 until 2013. One of our members then began to experience major health issued and eventually passed away. During the time of his sickness we put our ministry on hold. However, recently a couple of the original members, including myself, have begun to feel that the Lord is leading us to become involved again in a music ministry of some kind. We have introduced some new folks to our group and have been practicing for several weeks. We are not exactly sure what the Lord has for us to do but tomorrow night we will be at Westside Baptist Church to minister during the evening service. My prayer is that whatever we do will bring honor and glory to God the Father and our Lord Jesus Christ. Please pray for us. Pray that we will be able to discern what He would have us do and that we will be willing and available.
To God be the glory forever and ever amen. May God bless you this coming week.
