Good evening everyone. I’m writing this evening from a hotel room in Manassas, Virginia. We are on our family vacation and have spent the day in downtown Washington DC. I mean all day. From 10:00 AM this morning until 10:00 PM this evening. We visited three of the Smithsonian museums, the Washington Monument, Lincoln Memorial, World War II and Korean War Memorials and have been to the Capitol Building and the White House. At least close enough to make a few pictures. There must be several thousand bikers here right now. I think they are here for a big Memorial Day celebration and concert.Very crowded.
What is really sad is we haven’t heard a whole lot of English spoken here. It seems that everyone on the street and even all the vendors are foreigners with most of them Middle Easterners. I really consider myself a man without prejudice but I am beginning to wonder. It has done something to me to be in the heart of America, where most everything we do is governed in some way, and all I seem to see is people benefiting from our country but probably 98% of them have not contributed one single thing to the success of our nation. A bunch of takers not givers. Well, enough of my rant.
I thought I would be ready with my first issue topic but I’m not quite there yet. In some ways what I have witnessed today is somewhat of a prelude to my first one. I will try my best to complete it by next weekend but no promises.
I hope all of you have a great day in the Lord tomorrow and a wonderful Memorial Day as we honor those who have made such great sacrifices for our country. They are heroes in my book and I am so thankful to be one of those they sacrificed for. A real American. Sorry. There I go again.
May God richly bless each one of you. Until we meet again.
